INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
South Africa, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo
Duan has also shown keen interest in development on dolomitic land. He has successfully consulted on multiple D4 designated dolomite sites for major industrial developments. His Master’s dissertation revealed interesting mineral occurrences within residual dolomite that contribute to the material’s unique behavior.
Duan is a PhD candidate, his doctoral research aims to improve the understanding of the variably saturated residual soil found within the complex vadose zone. This research has practical application in the analysis and design of embankments and cuttings (slopes) as well as deep excavations.
He has experience in numerous intrusive and non-intrusive site investigation methods for both rock and soil orientated projects and continues to display interest in learning and improving in the field of environmental and engineering geology and geotechnics.
